The POWER of A Brand

Understanding the power of brand identity and image in college athletics.

My project rebrands RPI athletics to create a more professional and cohesive look across all sports teams. According to research, a brand represents a guarantee of ‘quality, origin and performance,’ which increases the perceived value of the consumer (Bačevac, Jovan, Dragan, 2020). It is important to have a known brand and well produced media because it signals a level of professionalism and organization. Similarly, in collegiate sports the brand is associated with the level of competitiveness of the program, which affects the way a player or faculty prospect views the program. I rebranded four teams, (football, men’s basketball, women’s hockey, women’s lacrosse) and created three graphics highlighting game day, schedules and final scores along with a photoshoot with the respective teams to further display the rebrand.
